The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is a pivotal role within the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), responsible for overseeing all technical and policy matters related to the agency's technology architecture, strategy, planning, integration, and modernization. The primary goal of the CTO is to identify and address gaps, redundancies, inefficiencies, and opportunities within the agency's technological framework. This position supports the full range of missions undertaken by the Information Systems Division, which includes law enforcement, intelligence, forensic science, laboratory services, diversion investigative services, and financial and regulatory missions. In this role, the CTO will plan and lead DEA technology solutions across the Information Technology Division, ensuring that the agency employs best-in-class technologies. The incumbent will provide a documented vision for the IT infrastructure, policies, and services that support DEA's mission. As a change agent, the CTO will inspire teamwork across the agency and with external partners, promoting innovation and the most efficient methods for conducting agency business. The CTO will lead the development of the DEA IT Technology Strategic Plan, ensuring alignment with the overall DEA Strategic Plan. This includes conducting strategic sourcing analysis of technology products and services, overseeing the development and maintenance of the DEA enterprise architecture, and providing guidance to cross-functional teams to address business and operational issues. The CTO will also review and recommend technology platforms and systems that support forensic services and DEA operations, ensuring that the agency's governance and capital planning processes are effectively managed.
