About the position

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at PragerU will lead the development and optimization of the organization's digital platforms, including its website, mobile applications, and OTT channels. This role is pivotal in transitioning from an outsourced development model to a robust in-house tech team, providing technical leadership and strategic vision to enhance the digital strategy of the non-profit. The CTO will also be responsible for managing a diverse team and ensuring high performance and uptime of digital services.

Responsibilities

• Assess, understand, and optimize the current web and mobile technology setup.
• Transition web and mobile app management from outsourced teams to in-house developers.
• Manage existing staff, including the Director of Product and Content Management team.
• Recruit, train, and lead new hires such as Front-End and Back-End Developers, and UX professionals.
• Collaborate with external vendors (web and app developers) to ensure alignment with technology goals.
• Maintain high uptime and redundancy, developing contingency plans for resilience.
• Drive the vision and development for the 6-month, 12-month, and 2-year plans for website and mobile app functionality.

Requirements

• 5-7+ years in a senior technology leadership role (CTO, VP of Technology, etc.) within a digital media company or similar.
• Proven ability to program and deep knowledge of back-end and front-end technologies.
• Strong track record in building and managing diverse technology teams.
• Experience leading cross-functional collaborations with internal teams and external partners.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, scrappy environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Javascript, React, React Native, LAMP, and Social Media API integrations.
