About the position

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Stony Brook Medicine will provide strategic direction and leadership to the Healthcare Infrastructure Services departments, overseeing the technical infrastructure that supports the healthcare enterprise. This role is crucial for identifying and leveraging technology solutions to meet business goals efficiently and effectively. The CTO will manage a diverse team of over 80 professionals and will be responsible for developing and executing a multi-year infrastructure strategy, ensuring alignment with the overall IT strategic plan.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead a high performing team of leaders managing a diverse team of 80+ professionals within Infrastructure and Operations.
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for Healthcare Infrastructure Solutions Planning, including the development and execution of a multi-year enterprise-wide infrastructure strategy.
  • Direct the development of the platform roadmap and drive the Infrastructure & Operations department to embrace next-generation technology.
  • Develop the annual budget for Infrastructure & Operations to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Direct the development of the Health System and Clinically Integrated Network Infrastructure & Operations strategy.
  • Commit to growing and transforming the workforce culture, applying experience in developing new capabilities.
  • Provide overall leadership, direction, and project management for new infrastructure computing architecture systems.
  • Establish strategic relationships with key vendors to drive business value and reduce costs.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement across IT infrastructure and services.
  • Accountable for leading, managing, and coaching the next level of IT leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS or related field.
  • Minimum of 15+ years of broad-based technology and engineering experience within health solutions or medical devices technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply an analytical, process-driven approach with appropriate KPIs.
  • Strong acumen with the ability to lead change and collaborate intensely.
  • Experience in leading teams and developing talent within a large organization.
  • Experience in interacting with executives across a business.
  • Experience in leading implementation of a strategic computing model change.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree and/or equivalent experience with Information Systems.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Proven ability to build strategic relationships and influence partners internally and externally.
  • Experience in governing a multi-vendor delivery model.
  • Experience in developing annual and multi-year infrastructure technology plans and strategies.
