About the position

The Child and Family Services Specialist Lead Worker for the Learning and Development Team at DHHS is responsible for advocating for the safety, permanency, and well-being of children and families. This role focuses on implementing family-centered practices in case management, promoting normalcy for children in care, and developing training plans for new specialists. The position requires collaboration with community stakeholders and aims to enhance the effectiveness of child protection services.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for each child's safety, permanency, and well-being.
• Implement family-centered practice principles into case management.
• Promote normalcy in the lives of children in care.
• Coordinate efforts of formal and informal resources to meet the needs of children, youth, and families.
• Develop training plans in collaboration with CFS Supervisor and Specialist.
• Provide coaching and training to trainees and current CFS Specialists.
• Conduct monthly check-in group meetings with new CFS specialists.
• Assist in retention efforts to prevent CFS Specialist turnover.
• Foster relationships with community stakeholders to facilitate successful collaboration.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, mental health care, education, criminal justice or other closely related area.
• Experience performing case management responsibilities in protective services, alcohol/drug abuse, juvenile justice probation, counseling or social services delivery.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience as a Child and Family Specialist with DHHS in Nebraska.
• At least one year demonstrated experience providing case management within Child Protection Services, preferably in Nebraska.
• Knowledge of Family Assessment and Engagement, Family Centered Practice and Safety Organized practice.
