About the position
The Child and Family Social Worker position at Orchards Children's Services involves providing home-based services to families engaged with the Child Welfare System. The role focuses on supporting families facing challenges in parenting, meeting basic needs, and accessing community services through strengths-based, solution-focused interventions. The position aims to prevent child maltreatment and unnecessary foster care placements by utilizing motivational interviewing techniques and tailored support services.
Responsibilities
- Provide home-based family preservation services to families in need.
- Utilize strengths-based and solution-focused intervention techniques.
- Engage families through motivational interviewing to increase protective factors.
- Teach and model life skills, household management, and parenting skills.
- Support families in safety planning and navigating community resources.
- Conduct face-to-face family sessions based on individual family needs using the FAST tool.
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in service delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in any human services field or education.
- Experience working with children and families providing home-based services (preferred).
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and motivational interviewing techniques (preferred).
- Demonstrated knowledge of family systems and treatment strategies using a strength-based perspective (preferred).
