About the position

This position is located at the Minot AFB Child Development Center. A Flex (Intermittent) schedule does not have guaranteed hours and you may work 0-40 hours per week as needed by the facility. Department of the Air Force Child and Youth Programs Employee Child Care Discount applicable to this position. Pay will be set based on experience and education and/or certification: Target Level: $20.46, Intermediate Level: $19.30, Entry Level: $18.21.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Child and Youth Program Assistant (CYPA) in one or more child and youth programs.
  • Accountable for the whereabouts and safety of children and youth.
  • Provide care/supervision, oversight, and accountability for program participants.
  • Assist in preparing age-appropriate activities.
  • Supervise children and youth during indoor and outdoor activities, on field trips, outings, and special events.
  • Arrange and serve snacks/meals.
  • Execute work in accordance with policies and regulations.
  • May be required to transport children in government vehicles.
  • Coordinate and conduct activities for children and/or youth ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years.
  • Create an environment which welcomes participant interest and promotes positive interactions.
  • Implement program options for children and youth with special requirements.
  • Demonstrate, instruct, lead, and facilitate planned and spontaneous program activities.
  • Brief staff, management, and parents on activities.
  • Conduct inventory on equipment and supplies.

Requirements

  • Must be a high school graduate, or equivalent.
  • Must be able to provide proof of high school graduation.
  • For Target Level: 18 months working in any childcare or youth program.
  • Completion of DoD approved competency-training courses.
  • Possession and maintenance of a child development associate credential or equivalent.
  • For Intermediate Level: Six months experience equivalent to the CY-01 Entry Level working in a group program for children or youth.
  • For Entry Level: No previous experience required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree or at least 120 semester hours with a major course of study related to early childhood education or youth development.
