Child Care Aide

About the position

Laurel Play Gardens is seeking a dedicated Teacher Aide to support the social and educational development of young children in a licensed childcare center. This role involves working closely with teachers to create a safe and engaging learning environment, assisting with daily routines, and implementing educational activities. The position offers opportunities for personal and professional growth in a supportive and collaborative team atmosphere.

Responsibilities

• Support the classroom when the lead teacher is out of the room.
• Oversee and engage with children during free play, ensuring a smooth transition to structured activities.
• Assist teachers in implementing fun and educational activities based on child development principles.
• Help children with daily routines, including meals, toileting, and handwashing.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions, which may occasionally be scheduled outside regular hours.
• Contribute to program planning and discussions during classroom staff meetings.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks to ensure a clean and organized learning space.
• Assist with health and safety by maintaining clean and hazard-free classrooms and playgrounds.
• Report any medical concerns or accidents to staff and parents promptly.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• TB test, physical exam, and drug test as required.
• Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months).
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with children, staff, and parents.
• Physically able to perform activities such as lifting, balancing, walking, and caring for children.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in childcare (1 year preferred).
