About the position

The Child Care Assistant for the Project Success Program is responsible for supporting the daily activities and well-being of children aged 5-14 in a nurturing and engaging environment. This role focuses on assisting with educational activities, supervising playtime, and providing emotional support to foster a love for learning and ensure a safe atmosphere for the children.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily routines, including transportation and supervision of students in group activities on site and at home.
• Help with homework and educational projects, fostering a love for learning.
• Provide emotional support and encouragement, ensuring children feel valued and understood.
• Ensure a safe and clean environment by following health and safety guidelines.
• Assist in managing behavior and promoting positive interactions among children.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Possession of credentials required by Illinois Department of Children and Family Services for employment as a Child Care Assistant.
• Interest and ability to relate to elementary age children.
• Ability to relate to adults and other personnel in a team-oriented environment.
• Must be able to follow instructions and work without strict supervision.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior work experience with young, disadvantaged youth is preferred.
