About the position
The Child Care Licensing Specialist III position at OKDHS is a mid-level role focused on ensuring compliance with child care licensing requirements. This specialist level position involves managing caseloads, providing training, and serving as a lead worker or backup supervisor. The role requires a strong understanding of federal and state regulations related to child care and involves direct interaction with child care programs to ensure they meet necessary standards.
Responsibilities
- Manages a caseload that includes the on-site monitoring and assessment of childcare programs to ensure compliance with licensing requirements and QRIS program.
- Receives and investigates complaints including violations of licensing requirements including child abuse and neglect of children in both licensed and unlicensed facilities.
- Provides ongoing technical assistance and consultation to programs.
- Develops, provides, and arranges training or services to child care programs to assist them in meeting licensing requirements.
- Represents the agency in the community including public speaking or participation on committees, task forces, or advisory boards.
- Designated as a lead worker or backup to supervisor.
Requirements
- A Master's degree in early childhood education, child development, or social work, PLUS a year of child care licensing experience;
- OR a Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, or social work, plus two years of child care licensing experience, early childhood education, or social work, with a minimum of 12 months of Child Care Licensing experience;
- OR a Bachelor's degree in any field, plus three years of experience in child care licensing, early childhood education, or social work, with a minimum of two years of Child Care Licensing experience.
