About the position

The Recreation and Park's Child Development Program is actively seeking dedicated Recreation Assistants to join our team at various preschool sites throughout Los Angeles. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about working with young children, specifically those aged 2 to 6 years. As a permanent part-time and year-round job, the Recreation Assistant will play a crucial role in organizing, conducting, and supervising engaging activities that promote the development and well-being of preschoolers. The role requires a commitment to creating a nurturing and safe environment where children can learn and grow. In this position, you will be responsible for developing and implementing monthly and weekly lesson plans that align with the educational goals of the program. You will also assist in marketing the program, maintaining accurate records, and preparing related reports. Your input will be valuable in making recommendations for the acquisition or replacement of supplies necessary for the program's success. Additionally, you will be tasked with setting up the facility for special events, classes, and activities, ensuring that everything is in place for a smooth operation. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the policies, procedures, and regulations governing the conduct and safety of children. You should be familiar with effective program maintenance methods and possess knowledge of first aid and health and safety practices. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are essential, as you will need to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, staff, and other agencies.
