About the position

A Full Time position with an excellent benefits package is available working in our childcare program: $15.00/hr. This role involves a 40-hour work week from Monday to Friday, with 8-hour shifts scheduled between the hours of 6:30 am and 5:30 pm, with some variability in hours. The position offers 27 paid days off in the first year, which includes vacation and holidays, in addition to paid sick time. The job also includes a 4% flat 401k contribution after one year of employment, along with employer-paid life insurance and options for medical, dental, and vision insurance. Under the ultimate direction of the Child Care Site Supervisor, the Child Care Teacher Assistant is responsible for assisting the Child Care Teacher in planning and implementing a program that fosters the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of children aged 6 weeks to 5 years. The Assistant plays a crucial role in the daily provision of activities and in establishing a healthy routine for a group of children in the childcare program. This includes providing age-appropriate daily activities and creating a positive framework for a safe and enriching classroom environment. Specific responsibilities include assisting the Child Care Teacher with the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of classroom activities and curriculum, caring for children's physical needs, maintaining a safe and appealing environment, sharing observations about children, alerting the Teacher to special needs or emergencies, developing relationships with parents and guardians, and participating in staff meetings and supervisory conferences. The Assistant is expected to maintain professionalism and adhere to the organization's policies and mission statement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Child Care Teacher with preparation, implementation, and evaluation of classroom activities and curriculum.
  • Care for children's physical needs, which may involve lifting and carrying very young children.
  • Maintain an environment that is safe, healthy, orderly, and appealing.
  • Share observations and insights relating to specific children in the group with the Child Care Teacher.
  • Alert the Child Care Teacher to children with special needs, problems, incidents, and emergencies to ensure appropriate intervention is taken.
  • Develop and maintain a cooperative working relationship with child care parents and guardians.
  • Assist in planning and implementing educational and recreational family activities that meet varying client needs.
  • Report to the Child Care Teacher the need for supplies, materials, equipment, and repairs.
  • Participate effectively in supervisory conferences and staff meetings.
  • Maintain a professional manner at all times and adhere to the organization's policies, procedures, and mission statement.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or Equivalency Diploma preferred.
  • One (1) year experience working with children less than 13 years of age required.
