About the position

The Child Care Teacher at Stratton Mountain Resort is responsible for the health, wellbeing, and age-appropriate education of children in a childcare setting. This role involves implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum, maintaining safety standards, and fostering communication with parents. The position also includes supervising Teacher Assistants and Classroom Aides, ensuring compliance with state regulations, and performing assessments on children's development.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with, initiate, and encourage children in all activities during the day, ensuring their safety at all times.
  • Create and implement an age-appropriate curriculum using the Vermont Early Childhood Learning Standards.
  • Foster communication between parents and caregivers.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of portfolios for all children in the recurring program.
  • Perform behavioral and cognitive assessments for all children in their care at least two times per year.
  • Organize and prepare for parent-teacher conferences.
  • Complete 24 hours of approved professional development annually.
  • Uphold state licensing requirements and regulations.
  • Report any suspected abuse or neglect as a mandated reporter.
  • Follow designated protocol for reporting unsafe conditions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 21 college credits in Early Education or a qualifying Associate's Degree.
  • Must meet or exceed Vermont standards for Teacher Associate position.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a licensed childcare center or as an Early Elementary Educator.
  • Must be at least 20 years of age.
  • First Aid & CPR Certified.
  • Knowledge of Windows, Word, Outlook, and Excel.
