About the position

The Child Nutrition Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the kitchen operations within the school district, ensuring the preparation, storage, inventory, and service of quality food for school meals, snacks, and special functions. This role includes supervising kitchen staff, training employees, maintaining food safety standards, and managing kitchen records in compliance with USDA and district policies.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises kitchen staff and participates in the preparation and service of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program.
  • Trains and evaluates employees in all areas of job requirements and responsibilities.
  • Ensures safe food handling standards are performed in accordance with USDA requirements.
  • Maintains high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety in food production, storage, and meal service areas.
  • Responsible for ordering and inventory of all food and supplies to maximize district resources.
  • Maintains accurate kitchen records in accordance with USDA, state, and local requirements.
  • Ensures all kitchen equipment is in safe, working condition and notifies the Child Nutrition Office for repairs.
  • Responds to questions from parents, teachers, and school principals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a large-scale kitchen or food service operation.
  • Supervising experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • School Food Service Management Certificate eligibility.
  • Applied Food Service Sanitation (NIFI) Certificate.

Benefits

  • Full-time position with competitive hourly wage ranging from $21.80 to $25.70.
