About the position

The Child Support Agent II is responsible for providing enforcement services for child support, including both public and non-public assistance cases. This role involves negotiating and establishing support obligations, coordinating legal activities, preparing cases for court, and maintaining accurate case records. The agent will also assist in enforcement and investigative activities, prepare necessary reports, and may be required to testify in court regarding child support obligations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide enforcement services for Child Support services, both public assistance and non-public assistance.
  • Negotiate and establish support obligations for applicants for child support.
  • Assist in the coordination of activities necessary to file UIFSA petitions and orders.
  • Prepare cases for the attorney and assist in the courtroom.
  • Maintain case records in an automated system for child support.
  • Assist in the coordination and accomplishment of enforcement and investigative activities related to any program aspect.
  • Prepare and submit necessary fiscal and statistical reports.
  • Assist appropriate judicial personnel and agencies and testify in court as required to determine legal obligations for child support.
  • Possess and operate a motor vehicle.

Requirements

  • A four-year degree and six months of experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work; or an associate degree in business administration, human resources, law enforcement, or a closely related degree with two years of experience; or graduation from high school with three years of experience in relevant fields; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of the Child Support Enforcement Program and applicable legal procedures.
  • Ability to interview individuals and investigate cases.
  • Considerable ability to organize, analyze, and summarize case information.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, absent parents, and various judicial and legal officials.
