About the position
The Child Watch Associate plays a vital role in providing a safe, secure, and engaging environment for children in the Child Watch program at the YMCA. This position focuses on nurturing children through purposeful interactions, ensuring their safety, and fostering positive relationships with both children and their families. The associate will assist in various activities and events while adhering to the YMCA's Christian mission.
Responsibilities
- Provide a safe and fun environment for children in the Child Watch program.
- Assist with various activities and special events.
- Nurture children through purposeful interaction.
- Tend to the needs of each child, including diaper changes.
- Supervise children and all activities, including ADA accommodations where appropriate.
- Cultivate positive relationships and maintain effective communication with parents.
- Maintain the program site and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Current Infant/Child CPR certification required.
- Knowledge and experience with the care and feeding of infants, toddlers, and young children.
- Ability and willingness to change diapers while using techniques to avoid the risk of exposure to blood or other bodily fluids.
- Demonstrate maturity and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to approach participants in a non-threatening manner to manage behavior and diffuse potentially volatile situations.
- Positive attitude and desire to achieve the mission of the Upper Palmetto YMCA.
