About the position

The Child Welfare Specialist IV position is a specialist-level role within the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, focusing on child welfare programs. This role involves leading and mentoring lower-level Child Welfare Specialists, managing complex caseloads, and providing case consultation. The position requires extensive travel and offers a competitive salary with additional incentives for advanced qualifications and on-call responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead worker and mentor to a unit of lower-level Child Welfare Specialists within Child Protective Services, Family Centered Services, and Permanency Planning.
  • Serve as team leader in staff meetings, providing ongoing case consultation and advising lower-level Child Welfare Specialists in case management and interpretation of policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the coordination efforts of the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC).
  • Carry complex and difficult caseloads and/or are assigned responsibilities involving case consultation.
  • Monitor investigations and individualized service plans and review court reports.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work plus one year of experience in professional social work in child welfare programs.
  • Bachelor's Degree plus two years of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist.
  • Three years of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist.
