About the position
The Child Welfare Specialist IV position is a senior-level role within the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, focusing on child welfare programs. This position involves leading and mentoring lower-level specialists, managing complex caseloads, and providing case consultation. The role requires extensive travel and a valid driver's license, with additional salary incentives for advanced qualifications and on-call responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead worker and mentor to a unit of lower-level Child Welfare Specialists within Child Protective Services, Family Centered Services, and Permanency Planning.
- Serve as team leader in staff meetings, providing ongoing case consultation and advising lower-level specialists in case management and policy interpretation.
- Assist in the coordination efforts of the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC).
- Carry complex and difficult caseloads, and/or are assigned responsibilities involving case consultation.
- Monitor investigations and individualized service plans and review court reports.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Social Work plus one year of experience in professional social work in child welfare programs.
- Bachelor's Degree plus two years of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist.
- Three years of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist.
