Located in Greenville, North Carolina, a vibrant community of education with East Carolina University and a bustling medical complex, Grace Church is positioned to effectively preach and teach the Word of God in a world that desperately needs the truth of the Gospel. In an ever-changing world drifting further away from the truth of the Gospel and the Bible, it is vitally important that we fulfill the requirements of Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.” We are looking for a Youth Pastor who will uphold the truth of the Bible without compromise. This individual should be able to connect one-on-one with our youth by building personal relationships through discipleship opportunities, encouraging and equipping them with conservative Christocentric teaching, good communication skills, immersive studies and activities, missions, service projects, supporting, counseling, accountability, and a clear vision for the youth in the functioning of the church. The Youth Pastor will also assist parents with the spiritual development of their children by contacting existing families, visiting families, holding them accountable, and helping them navigate the various issues our children are facing in the world. We believe our children and teens are not just the future of the church, but that they are the church. We are accountable to God to train them up correctly and to demonstrate what godly leadership, faith, teaching, and application looks like. Working well with our youth and their parents is crucial, as is the ability to recruit and maintain an effective staff of volunteers for all departments of the ministry. Maintaining good communication, cooperation, and coordination is imperative. Understanding how people work best, along with their talents and abilities, are important assets for this role. The Youth Pastor will work under the leadership of the Pastor and the Board of Deacons, assisting the Pastor as directed in preaching and teaching at certain times. We seek to partner with someone who holds the same convictions, upholds doctrine, seeks truth above popularity, defends the faith, and lives their life for Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.
Responsibilities
- Build personal relationships with youth through discipleship opportunities.
- Encourage and equip youth with conservative Christocentric teaching.
- Plan and conduct immersive studies and activities for youth.
- Organize missions and service projects for youth involvement.
- Support and counsel youth, providing accountability.
- Assist parents in the spiritual development of their children.
- Contact and visit existing families to maintain relationships.
- Recruit and maintain an effective staff of volunteers for youth ministry.
- Coordinate with fellow church staff to ensure cohesive ministry efforts.
- Assist the Pastor in preaching and teaching as directed.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of the Bible and Christian doctrine.
- Experience in youth ministry or related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build relationships with youth and their families.
- Experience in recruiting and managing volunteers.
- Knowledge of youth culture and the challenges faced by children and teens.
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with Word of Life, Explore the Bible, and Awana curriculum.
- Experience in community outreach and engagement.
- Skills in conflict resolution and counseling.
