About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role at Redwood Family Care Network involves providing essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities in a group home setting. The position focuses on assisting clients with daily living activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting their social engagement. The DSP is responsible for implementing individualized care plans and maintaining a positive and enriching environment for the residents.

Responsibilities

  • Assist adults with physical and developmental disabilities in their daily lives.
  • Assist with complete care of dietary, hygiene, bathing, grooming, and dressing needs, including assisting with restroom and other activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Outline and prepare daily routines for clients as written in Individual Program Plans (IPP).
  • Support the needs and goals of each resident by participating in the development of IPP/ISP goals.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for the clients.
  • Encourage socialization among peers by taking clients to visit family and friends and participating in leisure activities.
  • Assist clients with personal care such as grooming and changing clothing if needed.
  • Prepare daily meals and assist with clean-up.
  • Report any incidents or problems and communicate daily with administrators.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification required.
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification preferred or willing to obtain within the first 6 months of hire.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting children with developmental disabilities or mental illnesses preferred.
  • Valid in-state driver's license with a clean driving record (no more than 2 points in the last 3 years).
  • Group Home License preferred or willingness to obtain within the first three months of hire.

Nice-to-haves
