About the position

The Children's Church Director at Citizen Church is a part-time, contracted role responsible for leading and overseeing the spiritual growth and development of children in grades K-5. This position involves planning and implementing engaging programs and activities that teach biblical principles while creating a welcoming and safe environment for children to grow in their faith.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement weekly Children's Church services, lessons, and activities in alignment with the church's mission and values.
  • Develop and organize curriculum, crafts, games, and other materials for Sunday mornings and special events.
  • Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers to assist with Children's Church programming.
  • Schedule volunteers and ensure proper coverage for all age groups during services.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding programming, events, and updates.
  • Maintain records of attendance, child safety, and volunteer background checks.
  • Oversee the Children's Church budget and supplies, ensuring good stewardship of resources.
  • Assist in planning and leading special events, such as holiday programs and family events.

Requirements

  • A strong and growing Christian faith with a passion for children's ministry.
  • Experience working with children in a church, educational, or childcare setting.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with children, parents, and volunteers.
  • Familiarity with age-appropriate Christian curriculum and teaching methods.
  • Basic administrative skills, including proficiency in email, scheduling, and resource management.

Nice-to-haves

  • A degree or coursework in Children's Ministry, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience in volunteer management and event planning.
