About the position

The IDD Children's Clinical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the delivery of clinical services to children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This role involves managing clinical teams, ensuring the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans, and providing supervision and guidance to staff providing direct care to children. The Clinical Supervisor works closely with interdisciplinary teams, families, and external stakeholders to ensure that services meet both the needs of the children and the standards set by the agency, regulatory bodies, and best practices in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide guidance to clinical staff, including behavior analysts, therapists, and direct care staff working with children with IDD.
  • Conduct regular supervision sessions, providing feedback, coaching, and professional development opportunities to staff.
  • Ensure that staff are trained in and adhere to agency policies, procedures, and evidence-based practices for working with children with IDD.
  • Monitor and support the implementation of individualized treatment plans (ITPs) for children with IDD.
  • Oversee the completion of assessments and the creation of behavior intervention plans (BIPs), ensuring that they are consistent with current best practices.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess client needs, develop individualized treatment plans, and monitor progress.
  • Ensure that therapeutic interventions are appropriately tailored to meet the unique needs of each child.
  • Participate in family and team meetings to discuss progress, updates, and necessary changes to treatment plans.
  • Review and ensure compliance with treatment plan goals, including documentation of progress, setbacks, and changes in interventions.
  • Ensure all clinical documentation is completed accurately, within required timeframes, and in compliance with regulatory and agency standards.
  • Monitor clinical practices to ensure that services are provided in a manner that respects the dignity, rights, and preferences of children and families.
  • Review and maintain client records in accordance with confidentiality and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, Medicaid).
  • Participate in regular audits and assessments to maintain high-quality standards and compliance with licensing requirements.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment among clinical and support staff.
  • Lead regular team meetings to discuss treatment plans, progress, and challenges.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for staff, providing expertise in IDD-related clinical practices and interventions.
  • Coordinate with other professionals and services (e.g., educators, medical providers, social workers) to ensure comprehensive, integrated care for children.
  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for staff on best practices in working with children with IDD.
  • Organize and lead training sessions on topics such as behavioral interventions, communication strategies, and developmental milestones.
  • Ensure that staff are up to date on relevant research, clinical techniques, and legal requirements for IDD services.
  • Provide education, support, and resources to families of children with IDD, helping them understand their child's diagnosis and treatment options.
  • Promote family involvement in treatment planning and the implementation of therapeutic interventions.
  • Serve as a liaison between families and the agency, ensuring open communication and addressing concerns.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the agency's IDD children's services, including program design, evaluation, and the integration of new evidence-based practices.

Requirements

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, or a related field.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience working with children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Experience in behavior therapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), or other evidence-based interventions for children with IDD.
  • Certification or licensure in a relevant clinical field (e.g., BCBA, LCSW, LPC, Psychologist) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of developmental disabilities, behavioral interventions, and therapeutic approaches for children with IDD.
  • Ability to supervise, mentor, and develop staff in a clinical setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with children, families, and team members.
  • Proficiency in clinical documentation and knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance (e.g., Medicaid, HIPAA).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
