About the position
The Children's Crisis Counselor position at AMHC's Children's Crisis Stabilization Unit in Calais, ME, involves providing 24/7 emergency support and intervention services for children and youth experiencing acute crises. The role is essential in preventing out-of-home placements and psychiatric hospitalizations by offering immediate, short-term care and support.
Responsibilities
- Identify and develop plans that include focused services to meet clients and their guardians' goals and needs.
- Provide compassionate supervision, supportive counseling, and assistance to those experiencing family and/or psychiatric crises.
- Educate clients in decision-making, problem-solving, and developing and utilizing coping skills.
- Collaborate with other services to create an aftercare plan.
- Complete all paperwork and quality assurance duties to maintain high service levels.
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Associates degree
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule and work evenings and weekends as needed.
Benefits
- Salary range of $36.7k to $44.1k per year depending on experience.
