About the position

The Children's Services Act Coordinator is a professional role within the Hanover County Department of Social Services, responsible for supporting at-risk youth and families through community collaboration and systemic improvements. The coordinator will implement the Comprehensive Services Act (CSA) in Hanover County, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, child-centered, family-focused services. This position requires expertise in the CSA and Family Assessment and Planning Teams, along with a commitment to evaluating and improving program processes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Community Policy & Management Team (CPMT) with the development, implementation & revision of local policies & procedures regarding the CSA program.
  • Supervise employees, including performing human resources functions and completing necessary paperwork; train, develop, evaluate, and discipline staff as needed.
  • Facilitate the Family Assessment & Planning Team (FAPT) meeting process, coordinating parent representatives and supporting family involvement.
  • Provide leadership in working with FAPT & CPMT to identify & develop strategies for increasing local service & treatment alternatives.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality as required by law & local and state policy.
  • Ensure logistical arrangements for FAPT and CPMT meetings, including notifying members and providing relevant information.
  • Provide training and technical assistance for efficient & effective services responsive to at-risk youth & families.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between agencies, service providers, and residents.
  • Coordinate program activities to ensure clients are linked with appropriate services and agencies.
  • Educate clients, volunteers, and others on program services, policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Assist CPMT in developing measurable outcomes and a plan for collecting & analyzing data regarding those outcomes.
  • Prepare & deliver reports as needed; collect and assemble program and fiscal data.
  • Prepare program documents such as case summaries or reports.
  • Promote effective communication and collaboration between agencies and Hanover residents.
  • Represent the agency at local, regional, and state CSA meetings and report pertinent information to FAPT and CPMT.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, public administration, or related field required (master's degree preferred).
  • At least two (2) years of relevant experience in human services or related field.
  • Experience with the Comprehensive Services Act (CSA) and staff supervision is desired.
  • General knowledge of the human services system with specialized knowledge of at least one program area related to the CSA.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals in diverse roles.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in foster care, mental health, special education, or juvenile justice.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and services available to assist at-risk youth and their families.
