About the position

RAND seeks an international/defense researcher with deep expertise on China. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive research and analysis on China's economy, its economic policies, and its implications on global economic trends. The ideal candidate will engage in rigorous research that informs policy decisions and contributes to a deeper understanding of China's role in the global economy. The researcher will be expected to develop models to predict future economic scenarios and trends in China, utilizing innovative methodological approaches to enhance the quality and impact of their research. This position demands excellent analytic skills and the ability to communicate findings clearly and effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on China's economy and economic policies.
  • Develop models to predict future economic scenarios and trends in China.
  • Utilize innovative methodological approaches to enhance research quality.
  • Communicate research findings clearly and effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Collaborate effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Produce high-quality research outputs, including reports and publications.
  • Present research findings to stakeholders, including policymakers and academic audiences.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in international relations, political science, public policy, or a related discipline; or a Master's degree with 10 years of experience; or a Bachelor's degree with 20 years of experience.
  • 1 to 5 years of post-graduate experience in research related to China's economic policies and trends.
  • Demonstrated research skills and a strong interest in empirical analyses related to public policy.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese, both written and spoken, is highly desirable.

  • Experience in developing innovative methodological approaches to research.
  • Strong track record of conducting in-depth and methodologically rigorous research and analysis.
