About the position

Xi'an Famous Foods is a well-known and respected restaurant group based in NYC serving specialty Chinese cuisine in a fast-casual format. We are currently seeking a Chinese-Speaking Operations Coordinator to manage the day-to-day operations of multiple restaurants. This role requires a proactive individual who can partner effectively with Store Managers and other employees to address operational issues while coordinating with the Operations team, HR, IT, and the Central Kitchen. The position is fully in-person, as our company does not offer remote or hybrid work options. The Operations Coordinator will provide guidance and support to store staff, particularly in resolving impromptu scheduling and personnel issues. Regular visits to stores for audits and remote observations will be part of the responsibilities, along with assisting managers in preparing weekly store schedules. The role also involves preparing reports related to store operations and researching new practices and technologies to enhance operational efficiency. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. and be fluent in both English and Mandarin. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in the food or hospitality industry, preferably in a managerial role, and must hold at least a two-year college degree. Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and Word, is required, along with the ability to type at least 60 words per minute. The position demands flexibility in working hours, including the ability to work in various roles within the restaurants as part of training and ongoing support for store operations.

Responsibilities

  • Handling day-to-day operations of multiple restaurants by partnering with Store Managers and other store employees on all issues.
  • Providing guidance, support, and shift coverage to store staff on all operational issues, especially focused on helping resolve impromptu scheduling and personnel issues in a timely manner.
  • Visiting stores to conduct regular store audits and remotely observing stores to conduct routine observations.
  • Assisting managers with weekly store schedules and preparing reports involving store operations as requested.
  • Researching and implementing new practices and technologies for store operations.
  • Assisting other departments on general tasks as necessary.

Requirements

  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Able to speak both English and Chinese (Mandarin) fluently.
  • Able to interact and communicate productively and professionally with co-workers.
  • Able to work well under pressure and multitask.
  • Able to take initiative when working and does not require specific directions to solve problems at hand.
  • Hold at least a 2-year college degree (in any field), preferably with a business or hospitality-related major.
  • Must have at least 2 years of experience in the food/hospitality industry, preferably in a manager position.
  • Able to utilize MS Office with high proficiency, especially Excel and Word.
  • Able to type at least 60 words per minute.
  • Able to work full time (at least 40 hours a week) and flexible as necessary.
  • Able to work in our restaurants for any shift (day, night, weekdays, Saturdays) in all positions (front of house, kitchen, etc.) as part of training.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a managerial position within the food/hospitality industry.
  • Proficiency in additional languages besides Mandarin and English.
