About the position

The Chiropractic Billing Specialist is responsible for managing billing processes, interacting with patients, staff, attorneys, and insurance companies. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can multitask effectively while providing excellent customer service. The position involves verifying insurance benefits, submitting claims, and handling various clerical duties, including reception work when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Verifying insurance benefits (group insurance, Medicare, 3rd party, PIP, L&I)
  • Submission of primary and secondary claims, both paper and electronic
  • Interpretation of EOBs, application of payments, adjustments, co-pay
  • Accurate data entry of patient information and charges
  • Research and investigate proper payment and denials of insurance claims through resolution
  • Document filing, scanning, faxing, e-mail and associated clerical duties
  • Help with reception and front desk work when needed; answering phones, and scheduling new and existing patients

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience in medical/chiropractic billing
  • Computer savvy with billing software experience (bonus if ChiroTouch)
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT and ICD coding for a chiropractic and massage clinic
  • Ability to read and interpret EOBs
  • Experience with insurance websites and Medicare
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Skill in building and maintaining positive, professional working relationships with team members
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Reliable
