About the position
The position is for a licensed Chiropractor within the Geriatrics and Extended Care department at the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Chiropractor will develop collaborative relationships with various healthcare professionals and implement chiropractic care services for Veterans at the VA Illiana Health Care System. This role is essential in providing non-surgical therapies for musculoskeletal and neuromuscular disorders, ensuring comprehensive care for Veterans.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and provide non-surgical, non-prescription therapies to patients with musculoskeletal or neuromuscular disorders.
- Take patient histories and perform physical examinations.
- Order standard diagnostic imaging studies and clinical laboratory tests.
- Determine the appropriateness of chiropractic care for patients.
- Provide chiropractic care including adjustments, manipulation, mobilization, and manual therapy.
- Manage musculoskeletal and neuromuscular cases and complete documentation in CPRS.
- Refer patients to other healthcare providers when additional treatment is indicated.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Degree of Doctor of Chiropractic from an accredited institution.
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice chiropractic in a U.S. state or territory.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug test.
Nice-to-haves
- At least 1 year of experience as a chiropractor in a healthcare setting.
- Experience with acupuncture is preferred.
