About the position

The CHOC Specialists and Division of Oncology are seeking a full-time Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist to join our distinguished Oncology team. We are committed to clinical and academic excellence as well as diversity in our faculty, staff, and student body. Our Pediatric Oncology Program consists of an interdisciplinary team of 12 pediatric oncologists, 11 advanced practitioners, sarcoma/pediatric surgeons, radiation oncologists, radiologists, interventional radiologists, pathologists, nurses, dietitians, child life specialists, and social workers. We provide expertise in bone marrow/stem cell transplant and CAR T cell therapy, bone and soft tissue sarcoma, leukemia/lymphoma, neuro-oncology, and rare tumors. Responsibilities will include expertise/interest in stem cell transplants, cell therapy, clinical trials, and clinical research. Our service spans both inpatient and outpatient with shared rotating inpatient call. Opportunities in research, academic appointment, quality improvement, community outreach, resident education, and administrative activities are available and encouraged. We are the designated pediatric branch of the NCI-designated Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) caring for pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients. We actively participate in the Pediatric Transplant and Cellular Therapy Consortium, Primary Immune Deficiency Treatment Consortium, Children’s Oncology Group, Phase 1 trials, and other research. CHOC Specialists, a private pediatric subspecialty group, is composed of more than 425 physicians and advanced practice providers within 26 pediatric subspecialties. This group practices at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), a premier healthcare system based in Orange County, California. Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise in bone marrow/stem cell transplant and CAR T cell therapy.
  • Participate in clinical trials and clinical research.
  • Provide care in both inpatient and outpatient settings with shared rotating inpatient call.
  • Engage in community outreach and resident education.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in administrative activities related to the oncology program.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree with board certification in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
  • Experience in stem cell transplants and cell therapy.
  • Interest in clinical trials and clinical research.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in pediatric oncology research.
  • Familiarity with the Pediatric Transplant and Cellular Therapy Consortium.
  • Experience with the Children’s Oncology Group.
