About the position

The Chromatography Field Service Engineer I position at Thermo Fisher Scientific involves providing on-site installation and maintenance of chromatography and mass spectrometer equipment. This role requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to build relationships with clients while ensuring effective service delivery. The position is remote-based, primarily serving the Los Angeles area, with potential overnight travel requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site installation and preventive maintenance of Chromatography and Mass Spectrometer (MS) equipment at customer labs.
  • Handle personal parts inventories and complete job tasks using service ticket management software.
  • Familiarize customers with instrument functionality, hardware, and software.
  • Provide a communication link between the customer and the company to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Regularly attend factory-provided technical and service training on innovative products.
  • Work in conjunction with Service and Sales teams.
  • Review customer data and run factory protocols to troubleshoot instrumentation.
  • Communicate diagnostic information with engineering, factory, field service, management, and other personnel to expedite repairs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years of maintenance on chromatography equipment experience strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Technical knowledge and experience maintaining HPLC, IC, or MS systems.
