The Church Bookkeeper at St. John Armenian Church is a part-time position responsible for managing the financial transactions of the church. This role involves handling, recording, and reconciling all financial activities, including payroll processing and administration. The bookkeeper will support the Parish Administrator in financial reporting and ensure that all financial records are accurate and up-to-date. The position requires approximately 18-20 hours of work per week, providing flexibility while ensuring that the church's financial operations run smoothly. Key responsibilities include recording all church financial deposits, which encompass cash, checks, and online receipts. The bookkeeper will also prepare and record vendor payments, manage employee timekeeping, and process bi-weekly payroll along with weekly payments for 1099 employees. Monthly bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations are essential tasks, as well as maintaining financial filings of transactional records. The bookkeeper will generate financial reports that summarize monthly and year-end financial transactions, support the year-end audit of financial transactions, and ensure compliance with sales tax remittance. Additionally, the role involves writing correspondences, managing emails, and handling requests from parishioners via phone calls.
