About the position

The CI Manager at SunOpta is responsible for leading and directing business process improvement initiatives and waste elimination activities to ensure operational excellence within the plant. This role emphasizes the development of a learning culture that embraces standardized work and problem-solving methodologies, particularly through Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). The CI Manager will also identify and train resources to implement state-of-the-art approaches for performance excellence and process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, teach, and coach TPM pillars using tools such as OPL, Centerlines, CIL, VMB, Fuguai, and 5S.
  • Establish and standardize business and operational processes through facilitated work sessions and process pilots.
  • Facilitate Kaizens, brainstorming sessions, workshops, and problem-solving sessions to improve performance.
  • Monitor business and operational performance through metrics and facilitate problem-solving activities to close performance gaps.
  • Train, coach, and facilitate continuous improvement tools and methodologies such as lean, six sigma, and kaizen.
  • Lead and execute improvement projects across functions using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Facilitate the flow of information and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Adhere to company GMPs, safety procedures, and quality processes.
  • Work with management to ensure effective organizational design and communication of roles.
  • Ensure effective safety procedures and record-keeping are managed through site leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
  • 5 years of related experience in a CI Manager role or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years of experience working with TPM principles and methods.
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel.
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and communication skills, including facilitation and public speaking.

Nice-to-haves

  • Lean/Six Sigma Green, Black, or Master Black Belt certification.
  • Project Management experience in a manufacturing or cross-functional environment.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Experience with Ceridian.
