About the position

The Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) Architect will play a crucial role within the IAM Architecture and Engineering function at SMBC. This position is responsible for architecting CIAM solutions that manage the digital identity and access of customers, ensuring alignment with business objectives, security requirements, and industry best practices. The Architect will lead the development and maintenance of CIAM architecture strategy, design scalable and secure solutions, and provide guidance to development teams for seamless integration of CIAM services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the overall CIAM architecture strategy.
  • Design scalable, highly available, and secure CIAM solutions, including authentication, authorization, identity verification, identity lifecycle management, and access governance.
  • Research and evaluate CIAM platforms, tools, and technologies that meet the organization's needs.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to keep the CIAM architecture up to date.
  • Lead efforts to continuously improve the performance, scalability, and security of the CIAM solutions.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to other team members on CIAM best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Create documentation for all work and provide guidance for development teams to embed CIAM services in customer applications.
  • Champion the developed IAM solutions and ensure compliance with applicable SMBC policies and relevant data protection regulations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in identity and access management, with a focus on CIAM.
  • Strong understanding of identity management protocols (OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML, etc.).
  • Experience with CIAM platforms (e.g., ForgeRock/Ping, Okta/Auth0, Microsoft Entra B2C/External ID).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex technical environments and develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and influence stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and self-driven.
  • Familiarity with API management and integration.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Certification - CISSP, cloud or other Security related.
