About the position

The CICS Systems Senior Advisor at Evernorth Health Services is a pivotal role that combines strategic thinking with hands-on technical expertise in IBM Mainframe Engineering. This position is designed for individuals who are not only capable of providing counsel and advice to top management on significant infrastructure matters but also possess the technical acumen to lead large-scale mainframe infrastructure projects. The advisor will serve as the lead technical consultant responsible for the design, engineering, and development of innovative information technology solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of CICS systems programming and internals, particularly with a master-level knowledge of CICSPlex and OEM products. In this position, the advisor will be responsible for the design, analysis, development, and implementation of engineering infrastructure solutions for complex business needs. The role demands a self-motivated professional who can work independently or as part of a larger team, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and excellent verbal and written communication abilities. The advisor will also be expected to evaluate and recommend innovative solutions to meet both new and existing business requirements, ensuring timely diagnosis of application or system issues and providing appropriate solutions. Additionally, the CICS Systems Senior Advisor will provide 7x24 support as scheduled or as needed, handling high-risk and high-visibility tasks with ease. The position is hybrid, allowing for a combination of remote work and on-site presence in Morris Plains, NJ, and requires a reliable internet connection for those working from home.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for large-scale mainframe infrastructure projects.
• Build and support complex CICS environments leveraging DB2 Data sharing, MQ Shared Queue Managers, Rexx, and z/OS.
• Demonstrate 10 or more years of CICS Systems Programming and Internals, with a master-level understanding of CICSPlex and OEM products.
• Work independently or as part of a large team, demonstrating self-motivation.
• Coordinate projects with end-users and technical teams in a high-paced service-oriented environment.
• Evaluate and recommend innovative solutions to meet business requirements.
• Diagnose application or system issues, identify root causes, and recommend solutions.
• Install, configure, and maintain CICS and associated program products.
• Provide 7x24 support as scheduled or as needed.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 10 or more years of experience in CICS Systems Programming and Internals.
• Master-level knowledge of CICSPlex and OEM products preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience in diagnosing application or system issues and recommending solutions.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with IBM Mainframe Engineering.
