About the position

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Medical Benefits Management (MBM) at Carelon is responsible for leading technology-driven initiatives that enhance healthcare services. This role involves overseeing the development and execution of a flexible, scalable technology platform that supports the company's growth and integration projects. The CIO will work closely with senior leadership to define business strategies and ensure the alignment of technology with organizational goals, ultimately driving value for clients and improving healthcare outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, and manages resources and efforts of a primary functional area of the IT CEE.
• Oversees the fulfillment of company and IT objectives.
• Defines direction and oversees technology strategy, architecture, development, installation, and ongoing platform and information maintenance.
• Procures resources such as people, funding, material, and support for accomplishments.
• Provides leadership for teams to achieve IT's goals and objectives.
• Builds a robust team through training and effective organizational development tactics.
• Implements company's policies, practices, and procedures, along with those of IT organizations.
• Has fiscal responsibility for a technology budget of $50-100M annually.
• Participates with business unit executives to establish strategic plans and objectives.
• Makes final decisions at the business unit level and ensures effective achievement of objectives.
• Coordinates project management across departmental and divisional lines.
• Establishes collaborative and responsive advisory relationships with business users and digital and technology partners.
• Obtains resources to achieve strategic priorities of the organization.
• Provides effective leadership and management oversight in mobilizing and motivating teams to accomplish goals and objectives.
• Develops a strong team culture through training and effective organizational development practices.
• Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports.

Requirements

• 15+ years' experience leading technology and/or data & analytics teams.
• Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years successful digital delivery including cloud-based, multi-tenant, advanced data analytics and/or service experience solutions.
• Experience working in service-oriented, open API architecture, automation, machine learning; emerging software and data management innovations, methodologies, technologies, and capabilities.
• Experience creating strategic software product roadmaps driving efficiency across processes and operations.
• Experience working in a bi-modal organization, maintaining, and servicing existing solutions, while building, transforming new solutions and capabilities.
• Experience with solutions that provide Software as a Service (SaaS).
