About the position

The Circuit Design Engineer at BW Papersystems is responsible for the design, testing, and evaluation of electrical equipment, ensuring manufacturing feasibility and cost-effectiveness. This role involves technical analysis and problem resolution, supporting both the design and manufacturing teams, and may require travel to customer sites for technical assistance.

Responsibilities

• Design/alter moderately complex electrical equipment
• Test and debug equipment to isolate defects
• Evaluate moderately complex designs and make engineering changes
• Evaluate new parts
• Prepare schematics, assemblies, detailed drawings, and bills of material (BOM) for moderately complex equipment
• Support manufacturing/assembly teams
• Manage and maintain project files
• Create and maintain product documentation
• Travel to customer sites to support field teams with technical assistance as required
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
• Typically has 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering
• Strong understanding of high-speed digital circuit design
• Knowledge of mixed signal / Analog circuit design
• Proficient in circuit theory and analysis
• Experience with semiconductor devices
• Ability to perform circuit simulations and analysis
• Skilled in testing and debugging prototype circuits
• Experience creating schematics using design software
• Experience creating PCB layouts using design software
• Knowledge of microcontroller and DSP interfacing and programming
• Experience with FPGA programming and implementation
• Understanding of modern and classical control theory
• Familiarity with instrumentation

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of industry standards and regulations such as EMC/EMI compliance
• Knowledge of CE, UL or CSA standards
• Experience with power electronics
