Circuit Design Engineer

About the position

As a Circuits Engineer in Apple's Silicon Engineering Group, you will play a crucial role in designing advanced custom digital megacells for high-performance, low-power System on Chips (SoCs). This position involves collaborating with a dynamic team to develop innovative circuits that enhance chip power efficiency and contribute to the creation of groundbreaking Apple products. You will engage in various engineering tasks, including design, analysis, and verification, while ensuring the highest quality standards in circuit design.

Responsibilities

• Develop custom circuits to improve chip power efficiency.
• Work with power team, PD, and architects to define specifications and requirements.
• Perform design, analysis, modeling/simulation, circuit level specifications, schematic capture, spice simulation/margin verification across PVT, statistical design, functional verification, and silicon bring up.
• Work closely with the layout team to complete the design and oversee layout quality.
• Develop and drive circuit methodology to achieve the highest design quality metrics.

Requirements

• Experience in design of low voltage custom circuits.
• Good understanding of deep submicron device physics and leakage mechanisms.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python/Perl or others) and CAD automation tools.
• Knowledge of industry standard circuit simulation and design tools.
• Bachelors or Masters in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in machine learning accelerators, SRAM circuits, non-volatile memories, weak/moderate inversion circuits, ultra-low power amplifiers, DC/DC converters, digital on-chip sensors, high-speed clocking, time to digital converters (TDCs).
