About the position

The Financial Planning Analyst is a seasoned professional role that requires a deep understanding of financial planning and analysis within the investment products sector. This position involves applying in-depth disciplinary knowledge to contribute to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and workflows. The analyst will integrate subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area, necessitating a comprehensive understanding of how various areas collectively integrate within the sub-function and contribute to the overall objectives of the function and business. In this role, the analyst will evaluate moderately complex and variable issues that have substantial potential impact. This requires the development of approaches and actions that involve weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information. Strong analytical skills are essential to filter, prioritize, and validate complex and dynamic material from various sources. Additionally, the role demands excellent communication and diplomacy skills, as the analyst will regularly assume informal and formal leadership roles within teams, coaching and training new recruits. The individual will have a significant impact on project size and geography by influencing decisions through advice, counsel, and facilitating services to others in their area of specialization. The performance of all teams in the area will be directly affected by the individual’s performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide reporting, planning, forecasting, and analysis for all investment products, including capital markets, Global Managed Investments, and Tailored Portfolio Group.
  • Review and analyze financials during monthly close.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis for new business initiatives, working closely with the business areas and product groups, and support project launch and execution.
  • Produce monthly & quarterly Management Reports related to investment products for Private Bank NA organization.
  • Produce and deliver reporting that clearly communicates the financial performance of the business.
  • Design performance indicators and metrics that facilitate transparency and measure the effectiveness of sales and product teams.
  • Coordinate the production of the annual budget in alignment with the strategy of the business.
  • Prepare quarterly forecasts and monthly P&L estimates.
  • Assess process improvement opportunities that enhance the efficiency of the financial reporting cycle while increasing the informative value of the content provided to senior management.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of experience in financial planning and analysis or related field.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a balance of assertiveness and discretion.
  • Ability to influence others and build key relationships with finance and other professionals.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Broad and deep understanding of accounting principles and corporate finance concepts.
  • Excellent PC skills with the ability to design and maintain complex financial models.
