About the position
The Infrastructure Engineering Senior Advisor plays a crucial role in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex technical environments across the global enterprise. This position is integral to the Virtual Workspace department and is a key member of the Infrastructure Engineering team. The CVW Engineering team is responsible for managing infrastructures related to desktop virtualization, application virtualization, and remote access solutions. This includes technologies such as Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Azure Virtual Desktop, and other related platforms. The ideal candidate will possess a diverse background in multiple IT disciplines and demonstrate high proficiency in workspace virtualization, application presentation, directory services, policy management, configuration management, and workflow automation. The responsibilities of this role include designing and managing highly complex Virtual Desktop infrastructure solutions, focusing on delivering multi-user shared desktop platforms and seamless applications. Additionally, the advisor will design and manage solutions within Citrix Cloud and Microsoft Azure to support cloud-first initiatives, plan and facilitate the migration and lifecycle of Citrix components for both on-premises and cloud environments, and contribute significantly to VDI improvement efforts as a subject matter expert on cross-functional project teams. The role also involves gathering and compiling accurate information to analyze risks and develop viable solutions, proactively improving or automating management processes using PowerShell or other scripting methods, and planning high-impact changes to enhance user experience, operational efficiency, and support processes. The advisor will be responsible for creating and maintaining architecture diagrams, configuration runbooks, and operating procedures, ensuring that all technical documentation is up to date and accessible.
Responsibilities
- Design and manage highly complex Virtual Desktop infrastructure solutions with an emphasis on multi-user shared desktop platforms and seamless applications.
- Design and manage solutions within Citrix Cloud and Microsoft Azure to drive cloud-first initiatives.
- Plan and facilitate the migration and lifecycle of Citrix components for on-prem and cloud environments.
- Act as a key contributor to VDI improvement efforts and serve as a subject matter expert on cross-functional project teams.
- Gather and compile accurate information to analyze risks and develop viable solutions.
- Proactively improve or automate management processes using PowerShell or other scripting methods.
- Plan high-impact changes to improve user experience, operational efficiency, and support processes.
- Create and maintain architecture diagrams, configuration runbooks, and operating procedures.
Requirements
- 10 years of experience working with desktop and application virtualization technologies.
- 6 years of experience designing enterprise-level solutions to enable a globally dispersed remote workforce.
- Citrix Certification for CCA-V or CCP-V highly desired.
- Experience leading migrations for PC workloads to virtual desktop or shared hosted desktop sessions.
- Expert knowledge of Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops components on-prem or Citrix DaaS in the cloud.
- Advanced knowledge of VDI stack: presentation, brokering, provisioning, imaging, apps, and user layers.
- Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows OS, and Profile Management.
- Advanced knowledge of cloud services such as Citrix Cloud, Microsoft Azure, or Windows Virtual Desktop.
- Familiarity with project or work management concepts such as ITIL, Scrum, LEAN, Agile, or DevOps.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to openly discuss solution proposals.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with team members, support staff, and business representatives.
