About the position

The Civic Education and Democratic Citizenship Research Program Manager at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University, is responsible for implementing and administering programs aimed at strengthening civic education and fostering effective democratic citizenship. This role involves collaboration with faculty and Hoover Fellows to support initiatives like the Alliance for Civics in the Academy and various revitalization efforts across educational institutions and civil society organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and administer research and civic education activities by evaluating academic programs and making recommendations.
  • Collect and analyze data, create reports, and review citizenship and civic education trends to determine program effectiveness.
  • Write and edit content for proposals, newsletters, publications, and other program activities.
  • Assist with the development of grants and stewardship materials, including suggesting funding opportunities and writing grant portions.
  • Represent the program as the key contact and subject matter expert within RAI, developing communications for internal and external constituencies.
  • Organize and participate in outreach activities such as events, partnerships, fundraising, training, and conferences.
  • Lead workshops and facilitate meetings.
  • Monitor and manage expenses, budgets, and finances of the program in collaboration with various teams.
  • Assist in processing financial transactions and make recommendations on funding based on program spend.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including RAI affiliated Fellows and staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience in program administration and/or research related to civics and civic education.
  • Demonstrated oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in area of specialization.
  • Ability to oversee and provide basic direction to staff.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in a relevant discipline preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and manage shifting priorities with multiple deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with high-profile stakeholders.
  • Experience with the production and management of podcasts, social media, websites, and publishing platforms.
