About the position

The Civil and Construction Engineering Technical Project Assistant position at Oregon State University involves supporting research activities in the Sustainable, Healthy, and Resilient Buildings Lab. The role is designed for undergraduate students and focuses on improving indoor environmental quality through various research projects. The assistant will engage in both lab and fieldwork, contributing to data collection, analysis, and equipment maintenance while gaining valuable experience in engineering and environmental health.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with equipment setup for research activities.
  • Collect and analyze data related to indoor air quality and environmental health.
  • Maintain lab equipment and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Drive university vehicles to transport materials and tools as needed.
  • Participate in field research projects, which may require travel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the faculty supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
  • Strong background in Engineering or other STEM majors with programming experience.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as R, MATLAB, Python, or C++.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in statistical data analysis, data science, and machine learning.
  • Background in indoor air quality and aerosol science.
  • Interest in designing and building indoor air quality and HVAC labs.
  • Experience with instrumentation and sensing.
  • Familiarity with web app development and data acquisition systems.
