About the position

Join a world-renowned aerospace and defence organisation as a Civil and Structural Engineer in Broad Oak, Portsmouth. This role is part of an advanced manufacturing business that is currently searching for a Civil and Structural Engineer to add to their talented, hardworking team on an initial 12-month contract. The position offers a competitive rate of £44.55 per hour inside IR35 / Umbrella rate. As a Civil and Structural Engineer, you will provide engineering expertise and leadership to project teams focused on the design and construction of infrastructure within the RES property portfolio, as well as on customer-owned and operated sites. This role encompasses both new builds and the refurbishment of existing facilities, ensuring that no two days will be the same in this dynamic environment. Your responsibilities will include undertaking engineering feasibility assessments, preparing preliminary designs and reports, and ensuring that all work meets professional standards of quality and target delivery dates. You will also plan and conduct condition surveys, write technical reports, and prepare concept designs and options studies that will serve as the foundation for further development work. Additionally, you will oversee and manage the work of subcontractors assigned to carry out design tasks, conduct peer reviews as necessary, and inspect and report on construction site matters. Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering expertise and leadership to project teams concerned with design and construction of infrastructure.
  • Undertake engineering feasibility assessments, preliminary designs, and reports to professional standards.
  • Plan and undertake condition surveys and write technical reports.
  • Prepare concept designs and options studies for further development work.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards Professional Registration with ICE or IStructE.
  • Post graduate experience in the design and construction of infrastructure projects.
  • Experience of discipline-specific industry standards and Codes of Practice relating to design, installation, and maintenance.
  • Experience of other construction disciplines at any stage of the design/construction lifecycle is desirable.
  • Knowledge of CAD, particularly in the production and manipulation of REVIT models is desirable.
