About the position

The Civil Construction Engineering Inspector position involves on-site inspection and quality assurance for roadway and bridge projects in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. The role requires technical expertise in civil construction inspection and material testing, with responsibilities including daily reporting, identifying deficiencies, and ensuring compliance with project specifications.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand the project specifications and plans.
• Provide thorough daily reports and other quality/quantity forms to company standards.
• Perform full-time construction inspection and quality assurance.
• Identify deficient work and coordinate with the contractor to make corrections.
• Perform concrete testing if needed.
• Measure installed quantities, take project photographs, and provide other project documentation for the Construction Engineer.
• Assist with and/or attend various meetings.

Requirements

• Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Preferred: Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, or Construction Management, or a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or related field.
• NICET Level I or II (Highway Construction Inspection Certification) or 1,600 hours of relevant construction project technical experience.
• Strong verbal and written skills.
• Ability to draft a detailed construction report.
• Ability to read and understand civil construction plans and specifications.
• Experience with ODOT CMS, standard drawings, and MOP preferred.
• Strong technology skills and ability to quickly learn new software platforms.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• Technical experience in inspection and/or material testing functions on bridge and heavy highway projects.
