About the position

TempExperts is seeking an experienced Civil Defense Litigation Paralegal for a Direct Hire opportunity in the Tampa area. The Paralegal plays a crucial role in supporting legal professionals in delivering legal services to clients. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in medical chronologies, medical records, discovery, trial preparation, and case management. This position requires a proactive individual who can manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The Paralegal will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, revising, preparing, formatting, and editing comprehensive legal documents and other communications. This includes reviewing all incoming mail, faxes, and emails, as well as preparing and sending outgoing mail. The role involves opening new files for new matters and clients, which includes running conflict searches for new cases. Additionally, the Paralegal will organize and manage client files by scanning, saving, filing, naming, and destroying client data in both paper and electronic formats. Effective communication is essential in this role, as the Paralegal will interact with attorneys, clients, opposing counsel, and adjusters via email and phone. Responsibilities also include calendaring emails, e-filed documents, paper mail, hand-delivery, and faxes, as well as e-filing and e-serving documents with attorney approval. The Paralegal will assist in removing cases from state court to Federal court and will be responsible for printing and circulating e-filed documents. Scheduling depositions, hearings, mediations, and inspections is also part of the job, along with answering attorney calls, taking messages, and forwarding calls as appropriate. Preparation for trial is a critical function of this role, which includes organizing documents, binders, charts, graphs, and other evidentiary exhibits under the direction of a paralegal and/or attorney. The Paralegal will update client case lists, trial, mediation, and case lists to ensure accuracy, prepare pleadings and other court documents for attorney review, and review and release time for attorneys as directed. Processing vendor invoices and providing coverage for other secretaries, receptionists, or litigation support clerks as necessary are also part of the job. The Paralegal will send invoices to clients and follow up on past-due invoices, as well as answer questions regarding billing, client budgets, expert invoices, and client invoice appeals.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of law firm experience.
  • A.S. degree in Paralegal Studies and a Paralegal Certificate or a B.S. in Paralegal Studies or other field.
