About the position

The Civil Design EIT position focuses on Mission Critical Data Center projects within Stantec's Community Development Group. The role involves collaborating with a core design team to deliver civil site designs, construction plans, and specifications for various data center projects across the country, serving Fortune 100 clients. The position requires a proactive and efficient approach to design, with exposure to diverse project requirements and the opportunity to grow skills in civil engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Perform civil design and technical tasks under the supervision of the Project Manager or Project Engineer.
  • Conduct site design and layout, code review, and planning and land use entitlement processes.
  • Coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ) and perform grading, drainage, and utility design.
  • Implement erosion and sediment control measures and create project specifications and details.
  • Utilize relevant software programs for civil design tasks and calculations.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and project partners to complete projects.
  • Conduct field work as directed by a senior engineer or supervisor.
  • Assist in data collection and support design decisions with gathered information.
  • Verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards.
  • Analyze proposed project solutions for design integrity and cost-effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and successful completion of the EIT exam or ability to take the EIT exam within six months of starting.
  • Strong interest in the Mission Critical/Data Center market and major commercial projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to become proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, and building programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Related Co-op/Internship experience preferred for new graduates.
  • 1-2 years of related civil engineering experience for more experienced engineers.
