About the position

The Civil Design Engineer position at IMEG is designed for new graduates starting in May 2025. This role involves working closely with experienced engineers to provide engineering solutions and advice to clients, ensuring positive project outcomes. The position emphasizes collaboration, continuous learning, and professional development within a supportive and employee-owned environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic calculations such as hydraulic calculations, traffic projections, and site earthwork balancing.
  • Assist in designing water and sewer systems for private and municipal projects.
  • Support grading and stormwater designs for various site plans.
  • Interact with clients to gather project requirements and communicate technical information effectively.
  • Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication.
  • Work as part of a project team to support consulting projects.
  • Assist in project planning and scheduling to meet deadlines.
  • Document design decisions and monitor project design progress.
  • Analyze engineering tasks and propose innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to develop efficient solutions.
  • Participate in quality control processes to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in civil engineering.
  • Contribute to research and innovation efforts within IMEG.
  • Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance in engineering work.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent required.
  • Basic skills or knowledge with AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
  • Knowledge of design techniques and tools for technical plans and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) License preferred.
