About the position

EnSafe is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join our team, based out of our offices in Knoxville, TN. As an employee-owned, global environmental consulting and engineering firm, we pride ourselves on delivering innovative and effective solutions to our clients. The Civil Design Engineer will play a crucial role in leading engineering and design efforts for various projects, including site civil, stormwater drainage, industrial wastewater, and utility design. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the design and engineering aspects of projects that encompass civil design, solid waste management, landfill design, impoundments, and roadway plans and profiles. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to solve complex problems and ensure that projects are completed efficiently and effectively. Mentoring junior-level staff and providing direction to design teams will also be a key part of your responsibilities. You will participate in and coordinate various design and construction meetings with clients and subcontractors, including pre-bid meetings, to ensure alignment and clarity throughout the project lifecycle. Additionally, as part of a sell/manage/do organization, your duties will extend to marketing and sales support, project and practice management, and direct involvement in client projects where appropriate. Responsibilities

• Leading the engineering and design effort for site civil, stormwater drainage, industrial wastewater, and utility design projects.
• Overseeing civil design, solid waste management/landfill design, impoundments, and roadway plans and profiles.
• Problem-solving across multi-disciplinary teams.
• Mentoring junior-level staff and providing direction to design teams.
• Participating in and coordinating various design and construction meetings with clients and subcontractors, including pre-bid meetings.
• Planning, scheduling, and conducting detailed phases of design work.
• Providing marketing/sales support and project management as part of a sell/manage/do organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (Master's preferred).
• A minimum of 7 years of civil design experience, preferably with an engineering consulting firm.
• Current PE in the respective state or the ability to obtain a PE license.
• Previous experience with civil engineering design capabilities with both municipal and industrial clients.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in group management and mentoring.
