About the position

The Civil Design Engineer position at Actalent offers an opportunity to advance your career within a leading engineering company. This role focuses on developing detailed construction drawings, managing project tasks, and providing technical guidance to junior team members. The position emphasizes collaboration with contractors and internal staff during the construction phase, as well as innovation in environmental engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed construction drawings and technical specifications.
  • Determine material estimates based on designs.
  • Assist with technical oversight, task planning, and task management for staff level team members on diverse design teams.
  • Provide meaningful technical guidance and mentoring to staff level team members.
  • Interface with contractors and internal staff on the Engineer-of-Record's behalf during the construction phase of design projects.
  • Develop technical approaches for complex contaminated sites and identify opportunities to optimize existing and new procedures and systems.
  • Draft technical sections of project communications and reports.
  • Comply with the Guiding Principles and Code of Behavior articulated in our Company Charter.
  • Comply with Company and client Health & Safety protocols.

Requirements

  • B.S degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering; M.S. degree welcomed.
  • Minimum 4-8 years of environmental engineering and/or consulting experience with specific experience in the preparation of detailed engineering design packages.
  • Professional engineering registration in core discipline, or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Experience with the full range of an environmental project lifecycle, including feasibility studies and detailed design.
  • A past background with in-field construction of civil/environmental engineering projects is a plus.
  • Experience with planning and managing project tasks and working effectively with multi-discipline technical teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer literacy skills including proficiency in Microsoft software and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HydroCAD or similar hydrologic modeling software is a plus.
  • OSHA 40-hr. HAZWOPER training preferred, but not required.
