We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a Staff Engineer. This role will involve contributing to our multi-discipline site design projects on a full-time, direct basis at our Lehigh Valley office in Bethlehem, PA. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of private and public site development projects across multiple markets, enhancing their professional experience and contributing to impactful projects. As a Staff Engineer, you will be responsible for performing zoning interpretation and preparing feasibility studies, drawings, specifications, and reports. You will design and detail site layouts, grading, roadways, and utilities, while also contributing to stormwater management design, including Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) modeling and Erosion and Sediment Control (E&SC) planning. Your advanced understanding of local, state, and federal ordinances and regulations, as well as the relevant permitting processes, will be crucial in ensuring compliance throughout project execution. You will engage with regulatory agencies, manage all aspects of project efforts, and interface with clients to nurture existing relationships and develop new ones. Additionally, you will mentor junior-level staff, provide quality control for design and reports, and prepare proposals while tracking project budgets for profitability. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform zoning interpretation and prepare feasibility studies, drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Design and detail site layout, grading, roadway, and utilities.
  • Contribute to stormwater management design, including Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) modeling and Erosion and Sediment Control (E&SC) planning.
  • Utilize advanced understanding of ordinances and regulations (local, state, & federal) as well as the relevant permitting processes to ensure compliance.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies.
  • Manage all aspects of project efforts and interface with clients.
  • Nurture existing client relationships and develop new clients.
  • Mentor junior-level staff.
  • Provide quality control of staff design and reports.
  • Prepare proposals and track project budgets for profitability.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering-oriented discipline (preferably Civil Engineering).
  • 4+ years of professional experience working in Engineering, preferably with land development projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • P.E. license in PA is preferred.
  • Experience working on land development and infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools (e.g.: CADD, project management software, etc.); exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bluebeam is a plus!
  • Experience with stormwater management (SWM) design calculations, especially while utilizing H&H modeling tools.
  • Proficiency on standard office software applications: Microsoft Office 365 (especially Word, Excel, and Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, etc.
  • Proven ability to look at the “Big Picture” as well as the project goals in order to coordinate various design disciplines accordingly.
  • Proven track record of demonstrating punctuality with consistent attendance.
  • Proven ability to work in an energetic & challenging team environment as a collaborative Team Player, especially while maintaining the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate problem-solving skills, especially when working on a variety of projects while providing solutions to difficult issues.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
