About the position

Kimley-Horn's Dallas office is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join their Surface Water team. This role involves working on various projects related to surface water management, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and green infrastructure planning. The position offers both on-the-job training and mentorship, providing exposure to project financials and client interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct surface water management studies
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
  • Analyze and design flood studies
  • Conduct resiliency and vulnerability assessments
  • Plan and design green infrastructure
  • Engage in various engineering tasks with mentorship and training

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience with surface water modeling and/or design
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from an ABET accredited university in Civil Engineering
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Experience building and calibrating hydraulic/hydrology models such as ICPR4, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), and SWMM
  • Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS; AutoCAD Civil 3D or Microstation is a plus
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
