About the position

As a Civil Engineer you will have the opportunity to join a strong team of engineers focused on projects with sewer system improvement, preservation, standards, and developer coordination. As a group you and the team will focus on providing quality designs and creative engineering solutions for wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, pipes, manholes, odor control facilities, flow monitoring facilities, and rehabilitation/restoration of assets. Your work will range from writing reports/emails, communicating with internal and external groups, completing engineering calculations, basin planning, hydraulic modeling, and preparing plans/details in AutoCAD/Civil 3D. Your success will help keep Pierce County the best place to live in the Northwest. Specific tasks include using AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop comprehensive drawing sets for our contract documents, engineering calculations, cost estimating, alternatives analysis, report writing, developing technical specifications, and team communication. You will have great opportunity to develop your AutoCAD/Civil 3D skills as you work on real world projects that help make a difference in our communities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates for sewer capital improvement and preservation projects.
  • Computer-aided drafting using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Communicate regularly with maintenance and operations staff, other engineers and engineering technicians within the work group, and groups outside the division.
  • Perform all phases of sewer projects from planning, design, construction, project closeout, and support for operations and maintenance.
  • Development and maintenance of standard plans and specifications.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field OR
  • Registration as an Engineer-In-Training OR
  • Four years of progressively responsible, broad-based civil engineering experience.
  • Education and work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
